snow day blog
I used to hate reading I would pretty much never read and the only books I used to read would mostly be the books we had to read for school or random books in the classroom for when we had to silent read. I also would read mostly in school and not really at home. but now I have learned to grow a love for reading. I used to only read the school books which usually weren't about topics I liked so I never really read books I liked. I would always think why would I read the book when I could just watch the movie version of it. I then realized that the books are usually ten times better than the movie even when I thought the movie was good. I figured out in middle school that I actually enjoyed reading. I noticed that when we had to read a lot of more books for school and some of them happened to be subjects and genres that I enjoyed to read. and after that I started to grow a love towards reading. the books that interest me are usually something that relates to me or that is interesting and I haven't experienced.I like books I like to read are mostly realistic fiction and science fiction like the fault in our stars and the hunger games. I have changed as a reader since this tri because the two books I read for this class have become some of my favorite books thirteen reasons why and water for elephants. also this class has helped me find more time to read and helped me understand book and reading more like how to better analyze the text or better intemperate books. so now I like to read during some of my free time and don't dread having to anymore.

where the wild things are
i think that the film adaptation of where the wild things are was a pretty successful one. I think this because it was based off a picture book so they had to infer and add a lot of things into it to make it a longer movie. spike jonze made up names for the monsters and made up a more developed plot about max and how he ruled as their king. he also had to add dialogue into the movie which I think he did a good job picking the voices of the monsters and what they said. i also think that they did job of picking the editing between scenes because it all flowed really nicely. I also think the music choice was a little weird but it fit well with the movie since the movie is a little weird and it matched the mood at the time of the movie. I like how they changed the film angles and shots because it would let you see the setting then zoom up o everyone or a specific person or thing. I liked the costume choices of the characters in Where the wild things are. I liked he look of the monsters and how max's wolf costume got wet dirty and dry and didn't stay the same throughout the movie. I also think that it was really cute hoe they added max's doodles o the logos in the beginning because it adds character to the movie. I think the setting of the island was really cool. I thin it was smart to make some of it a desert some of it a beach and some like a forest. I personally did like this movie. the movie got a little weird at times but over all it was pretty good. between the movie and the children's book I would probably pick the book because it is less weird and its just cute. the movie made me feel many different emotions, some parts it was funny some were happy some were sad and you didn't know how it would make you feel next. I think that all the characters were so different and that made it hard for them to be happy which is what they wanted max to help them with. I like how they had them wreck the houses in the beginning so they could build a bigger and better one together that they could all fit in. although I overall liked the movie there are some things I didn't like about this movie. one o the things I didn't like was the names of the monsters. the boy monsters were named girl names and it kind of confused me because I didn't know who they were talking about at times. I also didn't like how max ran away and then went into the woods and then just showed up in a boat already sailing away. I think that they should have done it like in the book how he imagined his room turning into a forest then finding a bot then sailing away. but over all I think it was a good film adaptation.

blog 5
One of my favorite books from the ones I’ve read is the fault in our stars by john green. I think that this would be a good movie and it is currently in the making of a movie that will come out later this year. This book has many fans and is very popular so as a movie it would do well because all its fans will probably want to go see it. I think that this book would make a good movie because it has a good intriguing plot, I could not put this book down I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. I also really like the characters in this book, especially the two main characters Hazel and Augustus they connected really well and I would like to see how the actors portray their relationship in the film. You could relate in different ways to a lot of the characters because they were all different in the ways they looked, acted, and personality wise. Also the topics of this book many people would be able to connect with like love, relationships, and cancer. Since so many people have had relationships, loved people and have/have cancer or have known someone with cancer I think a lot of people would enjoy this book as a movie. This book is a tragic yet heartwarming story and many people especially girls will love to see it as a movie.
As a director to this movie I would specially pick out the cast. For the role of Hazel Lancaster I would chose Anna Sophia Robb because I have seen her play a role in different movies and TV shows and have played them all very well and I think she would make a good hazel because she has acted shy and outgoing parts. I would pick Nolan Gerard Funk to play Augustus Waters. I chose him to play him because I think he fits the physical description pretty well and from his acting experience from the show awkward his character in that show was a lot like Augustus so I think he would act it out very well. In the actual movie they are making they chose Nat Wolff to play the role of Isaac. I think that it was a good choice because I haven’t seen many shows or movies with him in it but I would picture Isaac looking like him. He probably is a pretty good actor though so I think that that was a good call to make him act the part of Isaac. While making the movie I couldn’t fit the whole book so I would have to make some cuts. Some parts I would leave out in the movie are simple and small parts of just hazel in her room hanging out and sleeping in the middle of the book because that’s supposed to be the old hazel in the begging before she met her new friends at the support group.
