vampires, zombies, and mad scientist. Other popular characters are demons and ghosts and psychopathic murderers. To be a horror book some characteristics your book should include are suspense, mystery, eerie settings, creepy characters, and provokes an emotional, physical, or physiological response. Some awards that are given specifically to Horror Fiction are horror hall of fame, reaper award, and scream awards.
The book I chose is Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews. It is about a family whose dad has recently died and the family has to move in with their grandparents they didn’t know they had. What the kids didn’t know is their parents are slightly related so their abusive grandparents disowned their mom. Their grandpa can’t know they ever had kids so the kids are locked in a room attached to the attic where they have to live until their grandpa dies. So far my book kind of fits into the horror genre, it has the element of creepy characters because of the strict religious creepy grandma. It also has an eerie setting because of the huge dark dusty attic they have to spend most their time in, and it also provokes an emotional response because of their dead dad and the way they have to live their life now. But maybe as I read on the book will adapt more characteristics of a horror book because at times it seems like a normal book with kids playing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flowers_in_the_Attic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horror_fiction
